The sun was getting sleepy over Cloud Garden, and the whole meadow had turned the color of peach tea. Kiki found the last dandelion of the day standing all by itself between the daisies.
“One wish,” she whispered. “Just one.”
She closed her eyes and blew. The seeds lifted off like tiny parachutes and drifted toward the clouds, and Kiki kept her wish tucked safely inside, the way you’re supposed to.
Luna trotted along beside her, pretending not to notice the seeds at all. She noticed every single one.
And Pip? Pip thought the seeds looked like they were going somewhere fun. So he floated up and joined them, twinkling, until he was just one more speck of light over the garden.
Kiki laughed. “Don’t float too far!” Pip winked. He never does.
Pip spotted: High in the sunset sky, drifting along with the dandelion seeds.
