The first snow of winter fell on Moon Lake without making a sound. By evening the whole shore was white and sparkly, and the lake was so still it looked like a mirror.
Kiki bundled up in her pink coat, her fluffy earmuffs and the scarf with little stars on it, and knelt right at the edge of the water.
“Look,” she whispered. “The moon fell in.”
There it was: a crescent moon floating in the lake, just as bright as the real one in the sky. Luna leaned against Kiki’s coat and peered at the water, very curious and only a little bit cold.
Pip floated out over the lake for a closer look, and suddenly there were two Pips, one in the air and one in the water, both winking.
“Don’t fall in,” Kiki said. Pip was having far too much fun to answer.
Pip spotted: Out over the water, right next to his own reflection.
