On clear nights, Kiki carries her fluffiest blanket up to Star Field, where the grass is soft and the sky feels close enough to touch.
Tonight Pip had an idea. “Hide-and-seek,” he twinkled. “I’ll hide. You find me.” Then he floated up, up, up, and settled right in the middle of a thousand other stars.
Kiki hugged her knees and searched. That one? Too big. That one? Too blue. That one? Hmm. That one was just a firefly.
Luna searched too, for almost a whole minute. Then she curled up against Kiki’s side and decided the stars could wait until morning.
A shooting star slid across the sky, and Kiki wished she would find Pip before bedtime. High above, one small star was smiling.
Pip spotted: Upper left, smiling quietly among the real stars.
